I was born in Flatlands, Brooklyn, NY, but grew up and live in CT, USA. I went to Indiana State University, Terre Haute, IN, and got my Masters' Degree at Liberty, Lynchberg, VA. I love to knit, write (esp. poetry), cook (esp. Italian and Chinese) - and watch CSI Miami (must see). Oh, yes, I'm also a chocoholic and a cheesoholic, "The value of any food is directly proportional to how much cheese it will hold." So obviously, if I really like it, it has too many calories! I have a handsome husband (also a CSI: Miami fan), 2 dogs (a husky bitch and a samoyed dog) and 3 birds - and mother everyone and everything. If I see a cute animal, my husband will say, "No, you can't have one!" We have no children (I wanted a large family, but cannot have children), so the dogs and birds are our children. Sweety will call them, "Come on, kids, its time to visit with Uncle Horatio!" when its time. And, yes, one of the dogs, our husky, actually watches televison, although her favorite is a single ice skater, and her attention is really strained after 4 minutes. I really like to sing (mind you, I did not say I sing well), and go around singing, humming, or thinking tunes, most of the time. Other programs I like to watch: CSI:NY, NCIS, Criminal Minds, Without a Trace, sometimes the original CSI, but I don't think it's nearly as good. I also like Law and Order (all of them), and I like to watch Jay Leno, esp. when he has animals on the show - so I saw it a good bit during the writer's strike! My favorite author is Jane Austin, closely followed by Emmuska Orczy, Charles Dickens, C.S. Lewis, J.K. Rowling, and I must not forget William Shakespeare. I am a country music fan, especially the Statler Brothers, Johnny Cash, Tommy Cash, Randy Travis, Slim Whitman, and I also really like Roy Orbison, although he's not considered country, and early Beatles. As a kid, I dreamed of being the mother of twelve (before I realized how much work children are), being an actress (not allowed to even be thought of in our home), and being a poet. I remember telling my mother I had to become a famous poet so I could be eccentric, instead of just weird. Of course, my husband says, "Everyone is weird, it's just a matter of in what way and to what degree." My all time favorite DVD is Les Miserables (musical), although it was not one of my favorite books; I also like most of my favorite books done as movies, such as Emma, Persuasion, Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Oliver Twist, Northanger Abbey, David Copperfield (either with Maggie Smith or W.C. Fields), Tale of Two Cities, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, etc., and I really like romantic comedies, such as You've Got Mail, the Prince and Me, etc., and I must not forget Fiddler on the Roof! One thing I require for a book or movie to be a favorite: it must have a happy ending! Last Book I have read: Murder Takes a Pilgrimage. Last movie I have seen: The Mayor of Casterbridge. I have finished knitting a sweater for my husband; it's about time, since I have been knitting for everybody else, including a sweater-vest for David. I'm now working on a shawl for myself. One of my favorite memories from when I was in my late teens: My mother looked at me very seriously, and said very deliberately, "I have to ask you a very serious question. It's a question mothers have been asking their daughters from the dawn of time. (pause) Whatever are we going to fix for dinner?" I still laugh when I remember it. My favorite color is pink, second purple, third aqua. If you know about having your colors done, I am a Winter. Color is important to me. I believe Man's chief purpose is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.
