| Birthplace: Forest Hills, New York City Where he grew up: Forest Hills, New York City Where he lives now: Miami, FL Nickname: Dave, H Pets: The child of an Italian-American father and an Irish-American mother, Caruso attended elementary and middle school at Our Lady of Queens at Martyrs in Forest Hills, Queens the same primary school attended by Ray Romano and Pia Zadora. He later attended Archbishop Molloy High School in Queens, NY, graduating in 1974. In 1987 Caruso was called upon to fill in for the leading role of Jean Valjean, In Les Miserables in Broadway for six months. Career 1980s His first film appearance was in the 1980s film Getting Wasted, in which he played the part of Henry. Caruso then spent the better part of the next decade in supporting roles on the big screen, appearing in such films as An Officer and a Gentleman, Blue City, Theif of Hearts and China Girl. David Caruso also appeared in First Blood, the very first Rambo film. If one looks closely, a very young Caruso is visable as one of the sheriff's deputies. He plays naive Deputy Mitch, who's clearly impressed by the fugitive John Rambo's skills. He can be seen a few times throughout the movie. Caruso is also seen in a few scenes in Twins, as a parking lot attendant, with Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger. In television he had the recurring role as a gang leader of The Shamrocks on Hill Street Blues in the early 1980s. He also had a memorable two episode appearance on the television Crime Story which ran from 1986 to 1988 on NBC. 1990s Strong supporting roles in the crime films King of New York (1990) and Mad Dog and Glory (1992) in which both his charcters were cynical streetwise cops, mad Hollywood really sit up and notice. Both films ultimately helps paved the way for him breakthrough starring role on TV. The said breakthrough role came in 1993 when he landed the part of Detective John Kelly on the new series NYPD Blue. After ganering much praise(TV Guide listed him as one of the six new stars to watch in the 93-94 season) and award nominations for his work Caruso made news by leaving the highly rated show the following year (only four episodes into the second season) Mr Caruso has starred in many movies that all his fans love!! In 1997 Caruso returned to televisionas the start of the short lived CBS law drama series Michael Hayes, in which he played a Big-Apple based federal prosecutor. 2000s He fell out of the spotlight but soon returned to the silver screen with a supporting role as Russell Crowe's mercenary sidekick in the movie Proof of Life in 2000. In 2001 he had a leading role in the horror film Session 9. Since 2002 he has starred as Lt. Horatio Caine in the popular CSI spin-off CSI:Miami. In the show Caruso is well known for his frequent use of one liners, many of which include him putting on sunglasses mid sentence. Personal Life Aside from his actiong career, Caruso is the co-owner of Steam, a clothing and furniture store in Miami, Florida. He has a daughter Greta (born June 1, 1984) with his second wife Rachel Ticotin.In 2004 David met the beautiful Liza Marquez and a son Marquez Anthony was born Septemeber 15, 2005.Now in 2007 David and Liza welcome a baby girl Paloma Raquel born on October 16th.
