Backstory:

It's been difficult to earn the respect of her colleagues since they found out that Natalia Boa Vista was planted by the feds as a mole. Though she never reported anything against the Miami-Dade CSI team, she still lost the trust and respect of her co-workers. She worked hard to become a CSI and regain the trust of everyone in the lab.

Personal Demons:

Natalia has always played her cards close to her chest, but it eventually came to light that Natalia was a victim of abuse. Whatever happened to her was enough to land her ex-husband Nick Townsend into jail and put Natalia on the path to start a new life. (He broke her arm.)

Relationships:

Her ex-husband has re-appeared in her life, employed with Crime Scene Cleanup, and watching her from afar. Nick is no longer a issue in her life since he got killed. She's Also Gone Out With Eric Delko, and Ryan Wolfe.

She has 2 sisters Anya and Christine. Her sister Christine is a mother of at least 2 girls, because in Born to kill Natalia said to Eric that she has nieces.
