Episode Recap: This episode begins with a couple getting their boat ready. A man throws what you assume to be his girlfriend a rope. She catches it and tries to pull it and notices that it is caught. She turns to see what the rope has got caught on and sees that it has wrapped around a bloody spear sticking out of the next boat over.

Next we see Eric taking pictures of our speared victim. Yelina tells Horatio about the victim and then we see Alexx come to take spear guy back to the morgue to begin her post op. Eric, Speed, and Horatio stay to process the crime scene. They find a pool of blood with a clean spot in the middle. What is missing from this crime scene? They all wonder.

Back at the morgue Alexx and Calleigh are getting the spear out of the victims body and when they do, Calleigh takes the spear off to process it.

In true Eric and Speed fashion we get some witty repertoire and Speed ends up having to go through the boats toilet looking for clues.

When Horatio and Alexx look over the victim’s body they decide that he was probably a “treasure hunter” and find some handy evidence.

Next scene shows Horatio and Yelina talking about treasure hunting and then Eric and Yelina go to interview a woman at the Marine Archeology society named Christine. Eric and Christine get along very well and even flirt a little. Yelina and Eric learn about Paul (spear guy) didn’t work solo. Paul had a partner named Marty and a silent partner that basically just gave them money: Brett Betancourt. We learn that Eric was a treasure hunter when he was young, he did it in the hopes that he would find enough gold to bring the rest of his family over from Cuba.

Eric and Horatio talk about what they have learned and where they think they should look for whatever it was that Paul got killed for.

Eric goes for a dive and while he is down there he runs out of oxygen and comes back up feeling a little drunk. He tells them, “I swear I saw a mermaid.” And Calleigh replies “Dream on diver man.” But he had in fact saw a mermaid while he was down there. He had found a ship wreck.

Tyler helps the team find records of the boat that Eric found. The ship is The Spanish Galleon.

The team brings in Marty (Paul’s partner) who just happens to smoke cigars and have a prosthetic hand. “Just like a pirate huh?” Marty says to Horatio. They interrogate him and he tells them that he saw Paul get killed and that it was the silent partner that did it.

Dive team goes down once again and brings up some of the treasure. Horatio and Calleigh talk about what they have so far. Back at the lab Calleigh begins testing the spear gun and in walks Hagen. There is some definite flirting. The recoil from the spear gun gives Calleigh a nasty shock and a nice bruise on her shoulder. Hagen asks if she is okay and tries to kiss her but Calleigh tells him “Not at work.”

Speed and Eric work on the case and use the computer to figure out more about how it went down, etc.

Horatio and Yelina go to the Betancourt home where they find some interesting clues. Horatio goes inside the home to talk to the wife alone and as they are leaving a mail courier brings Brett Betancourt a letter. The letter turns out to be a bomb and Horatio is just in time to save Mrs. Betancourt.

The team now has another crime scene to process and find Mrs. Betancourt much more willing to help. Calleigh and Horatio check out the boat and notice a peculiar smell and realize that the boat has been used to transport cocaine. They also find the spear gun they believe killed Paul.

Horatio and Speed call in someone from the coast guard to help them isolate where the drug drop off might be.

Then Calleigh and Hagen have a little lovers tiff over Hagen telling Horatio about Calleigh’s shoulder. Hagen tells Calleigh to “Relax.” And Calleigh tells him, “I happen to know relax is cop speak for shut up.” Hagen later promises to keep his mouth shut.

Speed finally figures out what was missing from the original crime scene it’s the Spanish Cross. He also finds out that it has been sold at an online auction and finds the new owner.

Speed and Calleigh go to speak to the new owner who doesn’t think of the item as a piece of a crimes scene but instead as an expensive antique. She refuses to help Speed but later agrees to help Calleigh because of her southern roots.

Knowing that Marty doesn’t have a bruise that matches Calleigh’s the team thinks to look at his stomach instead because he would hold it differently due to his prosthetic hand. Yelina tells Horatio that even though they know that Marty did it the DA won’t try the case.

Eric realizes that Christine has something to do with the cross being sold in the auction and takes a uniformed officer to see her. She admits to getting money off of it but denies anything to do with the murder. She is obviously upset and wants to know how she can fix it. But she is arrested, and Eric is visibly upset.

Horatio and Yelina interrogate Marty one more time but find that they still don’t have enough evidence to keep him. But Horatio warns him to be careful telling him that the drug lord and Betancourt’s wife both have it out for him.

The next scene has Yelina and Horatio watching a beautiful sunset on the beach and Yelina is talking about “what if they found treasure.” The conversation is cut short when Horatio receives a phone call.

The coast guard has found an abandoned boat with treasure on it and a bloody prosthetic arm. Someone has killed Marty just as Horatio feared they would.

The show ends with a scene of Marty’s corpse at the bottom of the ocean, Hagen bringing Calleigh an ice pack for her shoulder, Alexx in the morgue, and Horatio on the beach alone.
