Episode Recap: This episode begins with scenes a voice over of a news cast saying that there is a mandatory evacuation due to a hurricane. There is a young couple (Todd and Heather) out in the storm getting in their car fighting about having left late. Just as the couple begins to drive off a body lands on their windshield.
Cut to a hurricane struck Miami. People are walking the streets trying to clean things up. Yelina and Horatio talk about the hurricane as they walk toward Alexx who is processing the body that hit the couple’s windshield. The body has no id and Eric and Speed come to help process.
Horatio follows Yelina into a house where she is hearing a kitten cry. Horatio notices something and goes out back to see what it is. He finds a man impaled by a metal fence. Horatio stays with the man while he dies and asks him questions. Finds that the man’s name is Martin. Eric and Horatio begin processing the scene of Martin’s death.
Tripp and Calleigh walk the street and see a guy who appears to be looting. They ask if he lives there and he says he does. They go inside and find his wife dead apparently shot.
Yelina and Horatio talk to Martin’s pregnant wife and her brother who has a black eye and appears to have a strong dislike for his brother-in-law. Speed and Alexx look over the car victim and Alexx tells Speed that the victim drowned. They find a waxy substance on his arm. Still no form of id, victim has fingerprints sanded down, and has had extensive cosmetic work done.
Tripp interrogates Jed about his wife Deena and asks if he was the one who shot her.
Calleigh processes the Deena’s house. Tripp comes to talk to her and they find a gun in the nightstand. A neighbor tells them that she bought it because she was afraid of her husband.
Eric works on processing Martin’s crime scene. Horatio comes and they find a board with bloody nails on it, and alive roses that would have been under Martin’s body.
Tripp and Calleigh talk about Deena’s death and Alexx brings them new evidence about it. Calleigh tells him that the gun found at Deena’s hadn’t been shot recently. Calleigh and Tripp go back to the house and do a reconstruction.
Speed and Horatio talk about John Doe. Speed thinks he was a surfer and that the hurricane picked him up and threw him into the couple’s windshield.
Tyler uses computer to show Speed and Horatio that vortex could pick up the victim and helps give them a place of origin.
Velera processes the bloody nails. Horatio comes to her for the results and it seems that the blood was an unknown male.
Horatio and Yelina go back to the couple’s car and find blood and has Velera compare it to the blood on the nails found at Martin’s home.
Speed finds John Doe’s house and gets personal stuff from there. Eric and Speed process the stuff he found and learn John Doe’s secret. He is an accountant that stole money from the mob.
Velera comes with DNA and the 2 match.
Horatio and Yelina interrogate Todd about why his blood was at Martin’s house.
Calleigh tells Tripp that the hurricane winds picked up a spent bullet that Deena had used for target practice and threw it through the window and killing her. Tripp books Jed for theft.
Tyler runs a hypothetical program that show how he thinks Martin was killed.
Horatio asks to see Todd’s back and finds four puncture wounds that match the bloody nails on the board. Todd says it was an accident. Horatio then shows him pictures of the roses and explains what they prove. Todd tells the truth and then asks Horatio if he will apologize to Martin’s wife.
Horatio talks to Miguel (Martin’s brother-in-law) and finds out that Martin’s wife had a baby boy. Horatio tells him who killed Martin and that he is going to pay for it.
Calleigh walks in to the break room where Speed and Eric are sitting. They begin talking about how the three cases got solved and Calleigh shows just how optimistic she is. Eric says, “Leave it to Calleigh to find something good to come out of a hurricane.”
Ends with Horatio looking at Yelina, and then he goes over to talk to her. He is interrupted for a moment by a girl he helped save from the hurricane and then goes back to Yelina. He asks her if she would like to get together later. Then a voice over says that everything is back to normal in Miami.
