INTRODUCTION
Calleigh and Eric are one of the best CSI couples. They are a good example of best friends who could turn into lovers but are too afraid because they are scared to lose each other or their friendship. They've been through a lot of problems together even before Hagen, Peter or Jake came along. In one of the episodes of the show Calleigh reassures Eric that she trusts him with every fiber of her being which shows how strong Calleigh trust Eric.

BIOGRAPHY
Calleigh DUQUESNE

Background

Calleigh is a ballistics specialist; originally from Darnell, Louisiana, she is fluent in Spanish and has a bachelor's degree in physics from Tulane University. While working for the New Orleans Police Department, she gained the nickname "Bullet Girl". Calleigh is an almost eternal optimist, with a sunny disposition and a smile to match. However, this attitude does not in any way interfere with her quest to put criminals where they belong. She is pretty much universally liked by her co-workers, who sometimes remark on her being nearly "too happy". And while she does not believe in supernatural curses and the like, she does believe in karma (episode 506, "Curse of the Coffin"). Though her time as a CSI has exposed her to intense violence and gore, in episode 218, "Wannabe," she has an intense fear of ants which Eric Delko helps her overcome. According to episode 416 ("Deviant"), Calleigh's house address is 1025 Saratoga Avenue, Bal Harbour, Fl 33154.

Relationships

Her father, Kenwall "Duke" Duquesne, is an alcoholic defense attorney who has tried to rehabilitate himself several times. Calleigh sometimes helps him by picking him up and driving home when he is too drunk to do so himself. When he comes to the lab to confess that he might have killed someone while driving drunk, she lies to her boss, Horatio Caine, to protect her father (episode 303, "Under the Influence"). Her father sometimes calls her "lambchop" (episode 118, "Dispo Day"). Her parents divorced around 1992, and the separation was bitter and hostile (episode 521, "Just Murdered"). Calleigh reveals that she once dated a Marine Corps Special Ops sniper, now retired, who helps Horatio understand the mindset of a sniper on a spree in downtown Miami (episode 109, "Kill Zone"). Calleigh has a brief relationship with Detective John Hagen, former partner of Horatio's brother Raymond, in season 2; they break up when he goes on leave for a "bad back." Ryan Wolfe, to her shock, informs her that a bad back is a euphemism for not passing the department psychological evaluation (episode 317, "Money Plane"). In the season 3 finale, a deeply depressed Hagen steals a crucial piece of evidence from a crime scene, possibly to produce it later and look like a hero. Unfortunately for him, Calleigh notices the void when she comes to photograph the scene, and Hagen come up from behind, pulls his gun on her, and flees. Though at the time she does not know that he is the perpetrator, she remembers vividly the sound of the gun cock, and recognizes it moments before Hagen commits suicide in the ballistics lab. She finds the missing evidence in his jacket pocket as the coroners wheel out his body (episode 324, "10-7"). She also shares a mutual attraction with Special Agent Peter Elliott, a Fed from the Financial Crimes Division, when they first meet in episode 217, "Money For Nothing." However, Hagen in jealousy and hostility tells Elliott to back off from Calleigh. Elliott goes on to engage State Attorney Monica West, but neglects to inform Calleigh of this, continuing to offer warm overtures to her. Calleigh is naturally upset and angry when his fiancée walks in and introduces herself, though Elliott tries to defend himself by saying that he was going to tell her soon (episode 409, "Urban Hellraisers"). Later, when the lab is under investigation by the FBI, Calleigh determines that Elliott was the last person to handle the money that went missing from evidence, and that it is Monica West who is leaking false information that discredited the Miami-Dade Crime Lab, as well as stealing the money (episode 425, "One of Our Own"). Despite their fallings-out, Calleigh and Elliott remain friends, and she calls him in to determine the authenticity of money they confiscated during the course of a case (episode 503, "Death Pool 100"). Ryan Wolfe's first case upon joining the lab investigates the possibility that Calleigh's father killed a man while driving under the influence of alcohol. Therefore, Calleigh and Ryan's relationship begins on a bit of a sour note (episode 303, "Under the Influence"). However, Calleigh soon grows to accept him as a colleague. She is often caught in the middle of verbal sniping between Ryan and Eric Delko, at least until they grow to trust each other (episode 408, "Nailed"). She later buys an iPod for Ryan's niece, and, when he pays her back with a $100 bill, she is dismayed to learn from Federal Agent Peter Elliot that the bill is counterfeit. Though Calleigh confronts Ryan about his participation in the very Death Pool they are investigating (the source of the fake money), she does not follow up officially, and Ryan destroys all his "winnings" shortly afterwards (episode 503, "Death Pool 100"). During an investigation in 2006, another of her former love-interests surfaces: an undercover ATF agent, Jake Berkeley. Unfortunately, Berkeley had become too enamoured of his role in a weapons-dealing, drug-using motorcycle gang, and at one point Calleigh suspects he murdered his clean partner, Ken McCartney, though this assumption is later proved false (episode 502, "Going Under"). There are indications that they have resumed their relationship by the end of season 5 (episode 524, "Born to Kill"). In fact, Calleigh goes to Antigua with Jake on her "first vacation in a long time," so it can be presumed that they are involved in a significant romantic relationship (episode 601, "Dangerous Son"). After the details of their relationship are leaked, Jake suggests that they should take a break from each other in order to continue working together (episode 605, "Deep Freeze"). It isn't a break that lasts for long, as they are soon holding hands just outside of the lab (episode 606, "Sunblock"). After a pleasant brunch in which they both enjoy mimosas, Calleigh is involved in a shooting, leading to her being investigated by IAB. Calleigh confronts Jake about some extra mimosas on their tab, upset that the extra drinks call her own sobriety into question. She tells Jake that he may not be the right cop for her case, but Jake is the one who later exonerates her by finding the key piece of evidence, even though he allows Eric to take the credit for finding it (episode 609, "Stand Your Ground"). After colleague and friend Eric Delko is critically wounded in the line of duty, Calleigh and fellow CSI Ryan Wolfe go to the hospital to give him blood, but they learn that they are too late and that he is on plasma due to catastrophic blood loss. Calleigh and the others take turns at his bedside; she places a cross in his hand to show how much she cares, and is scared for him while he is unconscious (Eric is Roman Catholic); She is the first to talk to Eric after he wakes up, and the first to learn of his impaired memory when he asks after his months-dead sister Marisol. Calleigh, not wishing to upset Eric in his critical condition by reminding him of her tragic murder, demurs for the time being. She is instrumental in discovering his shooter by her analysis of the bullet fragment recovered from Eric's head (episode 515, "Man Down"). After Delko's return to work, Calleigh keeps a close eye on him, going over his reports and hoping his recovery is as complete as they would like. Unfortunately, she discovers a small but critical error in his procedure, which almost allows a killer to escape justice. Later, a depressed Delko declines to join her in the interview room, saying forlornly he came back to work too soon, even though he earlier provided critical insight to the case. Sympathetic, Calleigh allows him to sit out the interrogation (episode 516, "Broken Home"). The impairment of Eric's memory is further demonstrated when he fails to remember the woman who was suing him, and Calleigh intervenes for him. Eric appreciates that, and Calleigh appreciates being appreciated, at which point she surprises him by kissing him on the cheek (episode 521, "Just Murdered"). After Jake is involved in an accident, Calleigh and Eric share a moment in which she verbally compares the relationship she has with both men, revealing that while she doesn't know how she feels about Jake, she trusts Eric with her life. Later, a jealous Eric witnesses Calleigh and Jake sharing a kiss, after which he shares a long, meaningful look with Calleigh (episode 524, "Born to Kill").

Other Major Events

Calleigh is targeted by a murderer recently escaped from prison in the season 1 finale, episode 124, "Body Count." She had been instrumental in putting him away, thanks to her testimony at trial. Despite the danger, she refuses to take herself off the case, much to John Hagen's frustration. Calleigh herself brings the murderer into custody after she catches him at a gun store. Following Hagen's suicide in her lab at the end of season 3, Calleigh transfers out of ballistics briefly, only to return after she witnesses her successor's incompetence (episode 410, "Shattered"). When Horatio Caine and Eric Delko go to Brazil in pursuit of murderer Antonio Riaz, Calleigh is given temporary charge of the lab. Despite the geographic distance between them, she does her best to help them in their quest for justice by identifing a substance that leads them closer to Riaz (episode 501, "Rio"). During the course of the one case, while taking back roads to avoid traffic on the way back to the lab from the scene of the murder, Calleigh is nearly killed when another vehicle forced her off the road into the water. She is able to escape the sinking Hummer, and while much of the evidence gets contaminated by this incident, she and the team eventually manages to solve the case (episode 502, "Going Under"). She is also shot in the line of duty after tracking down and confronting a suspect. The Kevlar vest that she was wearing during the shooting, protects her from any serious injury (episode 509, "Going, Going, Gone").

Eric DELKO

Background

Eric Delko is the fingerprint and drug identification expert of the Miami-Dade Crime Lab, as well as their underwater recovery expert. The youngest of four children, behind three sisters, he has a bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of Miami (and is a former college classmate of wildlife conservationist Jeff Corwin, according to episode 204, "Death Grip") and is fluent in Spanish and Russian. His original family name was Delektorsky; his father, a Russian national who had been assigned to Havana during the 1960's, married a Cuban woman, with whom he had three daughters. When Eric was born, his father decided that he wanted a better life for his family, so he moved the clan to Miami not long after, and shortened the family name to Delko in an effort at Americanization. Delko typically acts as the team's frogman when the situation arises -- his boss has even termed him his best diver (episode 402, "Blood in the Water"). In episode 410, "Shattered", his job is endangered when he is busted for drug possession; he is revealed to have been buying the drugs for his sister Marisol, to ease the pain she suffered while undergoing treatments for leukemia. Delko is a Roman Catholic (episode 118, "Dispo Day," episode 506, "Curse of the Coffin").

Relationships

Eric has been involved with a number of women, including the somewhat unstable Gloria (who almost shot Marisol with a sniper rifle when she suspected that Marisol was Eric's wife - episode 424, "Rampage"); co-worker Natalia Boa Vista (who at one point thought she might be pregnant with their child in episode 415, "Skeletons"); and others. Despite Natalia's duplicity (she was revealed to have slept with him to get information regarding the lab), he remains protective of her when her ex-husband harasses her at crime scenes under the pretext of performing his duties as crime scene cleanup (episode 513, "Throwing Heat"). At one point, Delko 'tooths,' that is, text messaging someone for anonymous sex, though he later seeks counseling when his badge goes missing after one such encounter (episode 320, "Killer Date"). He has a close relationship with colleague Calleigh Duquesne; they care very greatly for each other - Calleigh is the one by his side when Eric is in the hospital, gravely injured (episode 515 "Man Down") - though their relationship has not moved beyond friendship. Despite any appearance of womanizing on his part, Eric Delko is actually protective of women in general, standing up for them against abusive men (episode 513, "Throwing Heat," et al). Delko also maintained a friendship with fellow CSI Tim Speedle, who is killed in a shootout when his firearm jams because of poor maintenance (episode 301, "Lost Son"). It had been Speedle that 'welcomed' a rookie Delko to the lab with a friendly hazing (episode 308, "Speed Kills"). Eric is at first deeply resentful of Speedle's replacement, Ryan Wolfe, especially when some of Speedle's previous cases comes under review (episode 306, "Hell Night"; episode 323, "Whacked"). For some time, there is a measure of verbal sniping between the two. At one time, Ryan is called in to a crime scene on his day off when Delko does not come and is injured when a suspect shoots him in the eye with a nail gun. Unsurprisingly, Ryan is upset with Eric, but in the end they work out their differences (episode 408, "Nailed") Eventually, Delko comes to accept Ryan's presence, and they become strong co-workers and friends. Delko is also friends with audio-visual lab technician Dan Cooper, and they are seen in one episode playing beach volleyball together with a group of bikini-clad women. When Cooper unwittingly reveals their activities to Natalia, she becomes offended at Eric. This incident helped lead to their breakup (episode 415, "Skeletons"). Delko is Horatio Caine's brother-in-law for a brief moment when Marisol marries Horatio, but their family bond is tragically severed when Mari succumbs to the gunshot wound she suffered at the hands of a Mala Noche sniper (episode 424, "Rampage"). Together, Eric and Horatio pursue the man (Antonio Riaz) who ordered Marisol's murder all the way to Brazil. There, Eric engages Riaz in hand-to-hand combat, which ends when Horatio arrives and stabs Riaz to death with the man's own knife (episode 501, "Rio").

Other Significant Events

During a night of clubbing with friend and colleague Tim Speedle, Delko is caught in a devastating nightclub fire set by the bouncer. Delko feels guilty that he couldn't save more victims, even though his efforts are heroic as he shepherds terrified clubgoers to an emergency exit. Despite the trauma of the incident, he insists on working the scene with the rest of his team (episode 122, "Tinder Box"). In episode 409, "Urban Hellraisers", Eric is taken hostage with others at a bank when a group of armed teenagers show up to rob it. When a 19-year-old gunman moves to rape a teenage girl, Delko opens fire, killing him. Two other bank robbers see him and start shooting with automatic Tec9's before fleeing. In the episode where Marisol is murdered (episode 424, "Rampage"), Eric is also hit in the arm with a bullet. In episode 513, "Throwing Heat", Eric finds himself being sued for $250,000 in personal injury after intervening in a heated and physical argument between a man and his wife in a bar. Despite the fact that they are later determined to be scam artists (and the husband's subsequent murder), Eric settles with the wife rather than take it to court, so as to prevent more scrutiny of the lab, particularly in the case of Delko and Horatio's less-than-official trip to Brazil earlier in the season. At the end of the episode, Eric signs papers authorizing his wages to be garnished, and starts arrangements to work extra shifts to cover the garnishment. In the final minutes of episode 514, "No Man's Land", Eric is shot in the leg and then the head during a shootout with men hired by escaped murderer Clavo Cruz. In episode 515, "Man Down", he is rushed to the hospital, where he flat-lines. After every other attempt at revival fails, an adrenaline injection to the heart brings him back. Following a tense surgery, he remains in critical condition in the hospital. It is revealed that most of the bullet is still lodged in his temporal lobe, and that he may suffer permanent damage to motor skills, speech and memory. This is evident as he consistently asks to see his sister Marisol despite the fact she has been dead for months, and he also has no memory of being shot by Cruz's men. As coroner Alexx Woods so aptly describes it to the rest of the team, while Eric is alive, he may not be the same Eric they knew. Indeed, Eric's return to work several weeks later is difficult, and he is frustrated with the slow steps he must take, relearning basics and making rookie mistakes. He almost lets a killer escape when he makes a simple but crucial error on a blood-presence test, mistaking H2O and H2O2 in order of application, which yields a false positive as a result. However, Eric later provides the insight to find the murder weapon, and thus a perpetrator (episode 516, "Broken Home"). Eric experiences such difficulties as double vision, which interferes with his performance in episode 518, "Triple Threat". When Ryan gently points out doubled evidence markers, Eric snaps at him in frustration, but Wolfe is not offended, as he remembers his own vision problems after being shot with a nail gun the previous season (episode 408, "Nailed"). Eric's memory lapses apparently cover only the six months or so prior to his injury, and as such he no longer recognizes the woman who sued him. This is used by a lawyer in an attempt to prove his incompetence (episode 521, "Just Murdered"). In episode 604, "Bang, Bang Your Debt," a full three years after Tim Speedle's death, Delko, still feeling the effects of a head injury suffered in "Man Down" (episode 514), suffers from vivid hallucinations of his deceased friend In episode 611, "Guerrillas in the Mist" Eric Delko has flashbacks about his near-death experiences and panic attacks due to his fear and anxiety.
