Chapter 1.
The moon sparkled off the water. Horatio reached into his pocket and pulled out the keys to the hummer. He clicked the remote with his soft finger. BEEP BEEP. He opened the car door and eased himself onto the seat. Horatio closed the case for the day after he arrested a couple for the kidnapping and murder of a 17 year old girl who had washed up on shore that morning. Horatio couldn’t stop thinking about the victim’s sister Aune (Ah-OO-NEIGH). She had flirted with H a bit, was very attractive, and ready for Horatio to make a move. Though, Horatio was skittish about how it would end. He new the Mala Noche were after Lt. Horatio Caine, and would stop at nothing to get him. They had killed his less-than-24-hour wife Marisol, about 2 years back. If he got involved with Aune, the same thing could happen to her. ML, were spread out everywhere, and there wasn’t anyway he could keep her safe.
Horatio Pulled up to the corner before turning into his driveway, and noticed a strange figure on his doorstep. Immediately he parked the hummer, drew, and cocked his gun. Walking slowly towards the door he recognized the figure.
“Aune, Sweetheart, what are you doing here?” Horatio asked. Kind of stunned that the heavens plopped her down on his door step.
“Horatio, I tried to find you at the Lab, but the night lady said you left for the night. You gave me your card, and here I am.” Aune replied with a worried look in her eyes, and voice.
“What’s wrong?”
“When I got home, I noticed a light on in my house, that I know I turned off. I tried to open my door but I heard men screaming. I ran, jumped in the car and came straight hear after trying the lab.”
“Well you can stay here, and we’ll try to figure out what to do.” Horatio offered her, with his sweet smile.
“Well ok, Horatio, if you insist.”
They entered his house, and everything was in order. Horatio emptied his pockets, removed his glasses, gun and badge, and placed them on the side table.
“Horatio I’m scared.” She entered his arms. At first Horatio was caught off guard, then wrapped his arms around her even body. She looked up to see his baby blue eyes, and new she was safe.
She led him down the hall, trying so hard to find the bedroom. He opened the door softly. Taking full control, she laid him on the bed, and he caressed her face. The both new what was about to happen, neither one tried to stop it. Leaning in for his kiss, she pulled away, entered the soft sheets, and told him to join her. He leaned in one more time, and she met him half way. The rest fell into place.
Chapter 2
Late to work for the first time, Horatio pulled into the parking lot of the lab. He felt her touch on his neck, even though she wasn’t there. Horatio was falling in love. But he couldn’t let this be Marisol all over again. He was determined to make it work. And so was she.
Stepping off the elevator and into the lab Horatio got his messages and ran into Eric.
“Hey H, late to work for the first time. Shouldn’t that go on some kind of record?” Eric asked jokingly.
“Yeah and you’d know a lot about that, wouldn’t you Eric?” A smile spread on Horatio’s face.
“Your right H, I was just joking.”
“ I know you were Eric. Now what do we have?”
“Well, I am just working on a piece of glass that we recovered from the crash. H take a look at this- I think the second car hit, reversed, and hit this car again. Because this glass was hit twice.”
“Good eye Eric, I’ll be at the Crime Scene. Where’s Calleigh?” Horatio was glad that Eric had found that, it gave H a chance to check up on Aune.
“Oh she’s already at the Scene. You want be to call her?”
“No I’ll be down there soon enough.” Horatio exited and gently placed his glasses over the sea of blue in his eyes.
She was beautiful, Horatio new that of course but he wanted to make sure this is what they both wanted. He entered the house and he could smell her aroma, it was sweet like peaches with a hint of cinnamon. It had been a while since he had a girlfriend, he was a little dusty on the romantic part, it was harder than figuring out the signature of a bomb, but Horatio new he couldn’t mess this up.
“Hey sweetheart, home from work early?” She looked fabulos with her hair tired up and her curls bouncing as she came to greet him. Her house was much different from H’s, but it was similar somehow.
She had amazing abilities with a camera, her pictures were hanging on the wall.
Amazing she thought, how could a man like him want to be around a woman that spent her day’s taking photographs of sailboats and sunsets. Compared to Horatio--who worked at crime scenes and cought bad guys all day-- she was a hobo. Well Not really but, she wiped that thought from her mind and kissed Horatio on the cheek.
“Yeah, I had a little time, but I wanted to come by and ask you something, come sit.”
Oh no she thought, that’s the tone he had used to tell her that her sister was dead. Oh dead, she could barley think it. But she knew Horatio was there. “Horatio what’s going on?” she sighed, “Is something wrong with me? I mean are you breaking up with me?
“Oh now it’s nothing like that, don’t worry yourself. I wanted to ask you” His voiced trailed off. “Is this what you want? I mean, I have enemies, and they are after me, Can you live with that?”
“Oh Horatio, You scared me. And I believe that whoever’s after you doesn’t matter. God wouldn’t have dropped my in your hands, if I wasn’t meant to stay there. Sweetheart. I am in. All In. I give you my heart.” She took a sigh of relief. “Wow that sounded like wedding vows.”
“Ok, that’s a load off my heart. I felt guilty. I thought that this was all me, and that I was taking you for granted, but I love you. And I know it’s only been 2 days, but I can feel it. Tonight, be ready at 8:00pm.”
“What are we doing?” She was curious.
“Oh, you’ll see.”
Chapter 3
“Hey boss, where you been?” Ryan was photographing the side of the road as Horatio was arriving. “Oh just taking care of some business. Is this where the car swerved?” Horatio tilted his head and observed his work. “
Yeah, it is, the car dove strait into the water, they are trying to get it out, but Eric isn’t here, and you know that it takes them forever with out him.”
“I understand, keep up the good work” Horatio walked over to Nathlia.
Pulling out a pair of tweezers, she noticed a piece of rubber. “Hey H, take a look at this, I am think it is from a shoe, I’ll run it.”
“Great, bag it, tag it, and let’s see what else there is.”
Calleigh was talking to frank, and noticed Horatio’s gorgeous smile. “Well Horatio I must say this, I havn’t seen that smile on your face for quite a long time. What’s going on?” Horatio blushed a bit, “Come on spill”
“Later, Frank what do we have?” Horatio looked at the women with the paramedics.
“Well, She’s injured pretty bad, and she’s shooken up at bit.” Frank walked Horatio over to him.
Wow, Horatio thought, she’s got four deep slices on her upper temple she must be pretty shocked. Her car was just ran off the road. Horatio couldn’t figure out why the paramedic was checking out her thigh, she was in a car accident, that was highly unusal “Miss, how are you feeling?” Horatio removed his glasses and clamped them on it shirt.
“Oh, I ake, why did this happen to me?” She touched her temple and sighed hevilaey.
“Ok, Miss……”
“Layla, Layla Turner”
“Ok Miss Turner, I am gonna send you to the hospital, I really don’t like the look’s of those, after, when your better, I’d would apreciate it if you would come down and talk with me. Would that be ok?” Horatio had kindness in his eyes and she felt safe.
“Sure, that’s fine, can you call my brother and tell him where I’ll be?”
“Yes mam’a, I’ll do so, here’s my card, call me when your ready to come down.”
P.s. I didn't know how to space the parapraghs, it kept going back. So this will have to do. :)
