Speedle and Horatio

The phone rang, thinking it was Tim, Bridget ran to the phone. "Hello." A sad quite voice replied. "Bridget, this is Timothy's mother--(starts crying)--the PD just called, and- um Tim's been killed." Hysterical sobs follow, Bridget numb with shock quickly thanks Mrs. Speedle for calling and ends the call. Dizzily she wakes to the couch and begins crying, on the coffee table in a plastic bag sit a positive pregnacy test. Bridget cries, alone and pregnant with the child of the man she loved. and he'll never know. 6 out of 6 found this valuable. Do you? |

The phone dialed six numbers,--a pause the click. Again Bridget hung the phone up. It had been exactly three years since she had slept with her boss. A night- the ended disastrously. That bar tender had spiked their drinks with "E". Bridget had only meant to have a single drink with Lt. Caine, to explain why she was leaving Florida. First Speedle's death, the baby,then this. She left the night after the investigation was closed, but she hadn't known. Quietly Bridget peeked in to the nursery wher four year old Kamden and three year old Kaydance (pronouced Kay+Dance) slept. Retracing her steps, Bridget picked up the reciever. "You can do this. You have to, for Kaydance," she told herself. Bridget dialed the whole number. The phone rang 3x "Hello?" a tired voice answered. "Horatio?" Bridget questioned. "Yes, who is this?" "H- its- uh- Bridget. Did I wake you?" "No, how are you Bridget?" "Oh, I'm fine, I, uh, moved back to Miami. And I need to talk to you...In person. Can we have lunch--soon?" "Of course, come by the lab at 11:30 tomorrow and we'll go to lunch, Bridget," Horatio replyed. "Thank you, goodnight," Bridget hung up. A sigh of relief, then panic. What would she say? Dam* that bartender! And the emotional time she was going thru. After Speedle's death Horatio helped her, but he had never showed any emotions other then friendship. Bridget loved Tim- but it had been almost a year since his death( and they had only been dating) Bridget was still having emotional problems. It was hard to let go when you knew that every day when you woke, a child, that looked just like him would be there- and need you everyday. Horatio had offered to buy a drink while thy talked. At the time Kamdenwas only a few months old. Bridget had decided that for her health and happiness, she needed to leave Florida. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

She remembered only bits and pieces of that night. The drink, the dizziness, the kiss, the hotel room- the fire. Disaster. Ten people died in that hotel fire. Horatio and Bridget made it out- barely. The Mala Noche had done it-caused the fire, trying to kill Horatio. Bridget didn't know she was with child when she left, but Horatio had a right to know, even if he fought for custody. she shook her head "I need to get some sleep." ***************************** The sitter came in at ten-thirty. She was always there early. "Bridget, do you have an interview?" asked Dani. Bridget smiled, "No that's next week, today I have a lunch date with an old friend." "Ohhh, so the interview is for what position?" "Uh, I was going to try to get back into the lab, but I could just go to patrol, I don't know yet." "Does it depend on how your date goes?" "No Dani, I just need to talk with this guy, he doesn't make my decisions, I do." Dani and Bridget talked for a while before Bridget left. She drove to the lab and was waiting on the steps when a hummer pulled up and parked. Calleigh and Horatio steppped out, and started for the building. "Calleigh, get those fingerprints to the lab," Horatio said. He stopped infront of Bridget. "On my way,"she said. Horatio followed Calleigh with his eyes, until she was inside. "Bridget," Horatio began, looking back at her, "you look good. How have you been?" She smiled, "I've been good, sorta, and you?" "Well--life gets tangled up sometimes, and, uh,my past caught up with me, rather recently. But I've been good, as always," he smiled. "Should we go?" Bridget asked. "Of course." Horatio lead Bridget to the hummer and helped her in. As he got in he asked how her son was. "He's fine." 1 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Do you still like chinese?" he asked."Do you have to ask?" At the restrant they made small talk for a few minutes, before Bridget's curiosity got the best of her. "So, your secret past caught up to you huh?" Horatio smiled,"Yes." Then he explained to her about Kyle and his mother. Though Kyle was just released and he went with his mother. "A son, wow, Horatio> How well are you accepting you new life as a father?" "It was not as hard to accept as one might have thought, then again, I never raised him and he was sixteen before I even knew about him." "And he chose to go with the women who abandoned him." Horatio nodded. "Well I've heard alot about what's been going on since I left." H raised his eyebrows. "Such as?" I heard, from Maxine, that your brother was really alive- and that he was killed,not long after you discovered the truth. I was worried about you. Then I found out from Eric that before your brother's death, you married his sister, and was killed by the Mala Noche. I'm really sorry Horatio, I wanted to call, to make sure you were okay,--but." she stopped. "But? What?' Horatio gently prodded. "But I was afraid. And it make me angry that I was afraid, because you were there for me when I needed you--I don't know if you needed me -but I shouldn't have let my fear keep me away from a friend going through troubled times. I feel so guilty. I really sorry Horatio." Horatio raised his hand to Bridget's face. He gently moved her hair and tucked it behind her ears. "Listen to me,"Horatio whispered,"never apoligize unless you've done something wrong. You don't have to say sorry, Bridget. and you definatly don't need to be afraid.We're friends,sweetheart,and you should never fear some one you trust. Horatio sat back and watched her wordlessly.The silence lasted for only a few moments, but to Bridget if seemed like forever. "uh- right, well you know I'd never keep important things hidden from you -- unlike other women."Horatio smiled, "you mean women like Julia?" Bridget bowed her head in a failed attempt to hide her blush. "Three years late is better then never, though if you were pregnant-- I wish you'd told me so I could have been there for you." "I was pregnanat and she is undeniably your daughter." "A daughter." Bridget pulled out a picture of her two children and handed it to Horation. "Her name is Kaydance Leigh Caine." Horatio nodded- a slight smile played across his lips. "She looks as beautiful as her mother," he said. "Horatio I'm not asking to be part of your life on a personal level, or even for money, but Kaydance deserves to know her father. It's the one thing Kamden will never have the privilage of doing." "I know, Bridget, I know," he said solemnly. Horatio and Bridget finished eating and as they drove back to the lab they made arrangements for Horatio to meet his daughter and for Tim Speedle's miniature to 'haunt' the lab. Bridget went home and collected her children and returned to the lab with them, to wait for Horatio and the reception desk. Eric came out of the DNA lab and saw them waiting. "Bridget?" he asked. Bridget turned to face him. "Hi Eric!" "Hey girl what are you doing here?" "Oh, we're waiting for Horatio." Eric looked at the two kids. "Is that Speedle's kid?" Bridget nodded, "Kamden." The boy smiled up at his mother, his smile and eyes mimicked Tim's perfectly. Eric crouched to ey level. "Hey Kamden. My names Eric." Kamden smiled and shyly hid his face in Bridget's let. Eric looked up at Bridget. She shrugged."Her name is Kaydance." Eric nodded and looked a Kaydance again. "Let me guess, three years old. the night you and H almost died in that fire?" Bridget nodded. "She's cute." Kamden grabbed Eric's hand, and looked at him. "You are my daddy's friend. You my 'nucle Ewick." Kamden stated. Eric laughed and fell down when he over balanced causing him to laugh harder. The two kids laughed adn jumped on him. "Hey, no rough housing inside." Eric and Bridget looked toward the lab, where Horatio stood smiling. The two childeren shyly returned to their mother's side, and Eric quickly got up. Bridget grabbed Eric by the arm. "Will you take Kamden for a walk, please." Eric nodded again, understanding Bridget's reasoning.So Kamden and Eric walked down to the break roomm while Horatio was introduced to his daughter. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

ok heres moreEric got some juice for Kamden when Calleigh came in to the break room. "Eric who is that?" she asked pointing to Kamden. "That is Tim's son." Calleigh looked at Kamden is shock,. "Oh my goodness I thought I saw Bridget, I cant believe shes back. She turned to the boy "Hi Kamden." Calleigh sat down next to him and helped him with his juice, while Eric watched with a slight smile on his face. Eric walked over to them and also sat. "Your good with kids, Calleigh," he commented. Calleigh blushed and continued to play with Kamden. "Hey Call, did you know that Bridget had H's kid too?" She looked up at Eric, in suprise. "Another kid!" "Yeah, her name is Kaydance." "Thas's my sissy!" Kamden exclaimed. Calleigh smiled, " Ohe yeah? Do you like your sister?" Kamden looked at her seriously. "Yes, but she mean to me." "but yesterday Kamden learned that it is NOT ok to his sister, even if she's being mean," Bridget said Horatio and Kaydance stood beside hre "Come on Kam. It's time to go." Calleigh hugged him and then gave a sideways look to Kaydance and Horatio. Kamden went over to his mom and sister. Then Horatio quickly whispered to Eric. Eric nodded "Yeah, okay," he said to H, and then looked at Bridget. "Can I take Kam out this weekend?' Bridget looked at Horatio and shook her head. "Of course you can, Eric you are more the welcome to take your godson anytime." As the three left H, Eric and Calleigh watched. "So, now you have a son and a daughter, Horatio,"Calleigh commented. "Hm, so it would seem." Eric raised his eyebrow. "Need proof, H?" he asked. Horatio laughed,"DNA should be finished soon." He turned and walked back inside. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

i just read this through and i realized it sounds kinda stupid but oh well,Calleigh looked at him. "Are you afraid of a little boy?" she said teasingly. Eric laughed, "I'm not afraid, I just thought I'd invite you, so you can spend time with Tim's kid too." "I'd love to go." Eric smiled, Calleigh noticed and couldn't resist adding, "to spend time with Kamden." Across town Bridget stopped at a red light and was trying to talk on the phone, over the fighting toddlers in the back seat. The call was unknown but Bridget answered anyways, she always did.
